About Kathy Roberts

The passion for caretaking, especially the elderly, has been burning in my heart for over 30 years. The caretaking experience started for me as an adolescent. My grandfather lived next door to us which provided me with my first opportunity for hands-on caretaking. After illness made him an amputee, our family became the sole caretakers. I learned at a young age the value of help when caring for others and understanding the purpose older adults have in the world. 

 

In 1995, I attended Northwest Missouri State University and graduated with a Child and Family Studies Degree (with an emphasis in Gerontology). Throughout college and beyond, I have taken care of individuals with disabilities, Omaha homeless, elderly, infants, toddlers, and adolescents. I am thankful for these experiences because they have solidified the caretaker gift and model for Hope Care Services. After resigning as a Children’s Ministry Pastor, I continued caring for my household, husband, children, niece and nephew. Caretaking of others, especially the vulnerable, is my passion and a gift from God.

I love to get up early in the morning, drink a cup of coffee, and go for a walk before the neighborhood wakes up. One of my dreams is to buy a cabin on a small acreage in the country. As we age, the practical mind deteriorates, but the experimental mind always remains. My prayer is that I will always have someone in my life to help me remain vital and green.
